Miguel Acitores, VP of Business Development and Strategy at Adevex, participated yesterday, March 10, in the conference “Technological Trends and Opportunities for Spain in Electronic Warfare Systems”, organized by the Círculo Foundation—a leading event for analyzing the present and future of the electromagnetic spectrum and its impact on defense. During the event, he delivered a presentation titled “Electronic Warfare in Defense Modernization Plans in Spain and the European Union”, in which he addressed the role of this capability within modernization programs being promoted at the national and European levels.
The concept of electronic warfare encompasses a broad range of capabilities, ranging from attacks on radar systems to the jamming of communications and navigation systems, as well as reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence gathering. These capabilities can be applied across all operational domains—air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace—and take on particular significance in an increasingly saturated and contested radio spectrum environment, where multiple actors with divergent interests coexist.
One of the highlights of the conference was the impact of artificial intelligence on the evolution of EW systems. The incorporation of AI techniques will enable the automation of numerous processes, facilitate “real-time” combat, and progressively reduce human intervention, profoundly transforming the way these systems are designed and operated.
Likewise, the need was emphasized for electronic warfare systems not to operate in isolation, but rather to be integrated within the broader concept of Electromagnetic Operations (EMO), in close coordination with other systems and cybersecurity measures. In this context, cyberspace is establishing itself as yet another operational domain, closely linked to the use of electronics and the electromagnetic spectrum for the exchange of information.
Through its participation in these types of forums, Adevex reaffirms its commitment to innovation, technological expertise, and collaboration with key players in the defense ecosystem, actively contributing to the debate on the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of electronic warfare systems.
